A pending status means the system has not issued a final outcome. It may reflect ordinary review, document verification, application volume or a non-working day. Continue monitoring the same reference instead of interpreting silence as rejection.
What referred means
The official application guidance describes an approval or a referral notice as possible outcomes. A referral tells the applicant to contact or follow the authority identified in the notice so the necessary ETA can be considered. Read the notice itself; generic online advice cannot replace its case-specific instruction.
Prepare a clean case file
- Passport used in the application
- Acknowledgement and reference
- Payment evidence
- Travel dates and accommodation
- Invitation or purpose evidence when relevant
Avoid duplicate requests
A second submission can create inconsistent records and another payment without resolving the first review. Only submit again when the responsible channel tells you to do so or after the original outcome and cause are understood.
Travel planning
Do not rely on a pending or referred record as permission to board. Keep travel arrangements flexible until the correct approval is issued and verified against the passport.
